Jan. 23 (Bloomberg) — Congress protected more than 100 Pentagon spending programs by providing more money than President Obama requested, despite a broad $30-billion cut to the Pentagon’s non-combat-related budget. Although the amounts are smaller than defense contractors would like, they provide a degree of certainty for weapons contractors that has been missing since the Budget Control Act (aka sequestration) was passed in 2011.
